Adopting Idea Elementary School in Kiblawan

27 Aug

chairdonorIt all started with a letter from the PTA President of Idea Elementary School and Barangay Kagawad Toto Escalante , an active parent in this remote elementary school in Bonifacio, Kiblawan, near the Sarangani border just before Barangay Bunot. He is also the father of Mr. Laurence Escalante, CJC BEED 2005 alumnus and a member of the school faculty.  The school is in dire need of classroom paraphernalia to replace the already irreparable contraptions the school children have been using as chairs.

After an ocular inspection conducted by the External and Alumni Affairs Office and the Brother Polycarp Foundation last June, 2015, the wheels of charitable work began to spin resulting in the resolution by the joint Alumni Association Councils for Higher Education and Basic Education to sponsor the repair materials, and the subsequent approval by the President of Cor Jesu College, Br. Eli Sosmeña, S.C., to donate the inventory of used armchairs from the Basic Education Department.

Last August 26, 2015, Cor Jesu College, represented by President Br. Eli Sosmeña, S.C. and Idea Elementary School, represented by Principal Elsie Sarcauga, signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Idea Elementary School grounds in Barangay Bonifacio, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.  This MOA outlines the participation of both parties in the improvement of school facilities, enhancement of teacher skills, and other provisions leading to better quality education for the pupils of the adopted school.
