INSPIRATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Father Andre Coindre founded the Brothers of the Sacred Heart to address the needs of a troubled French youth at  the fringes of the French Revolution. An exceptional preacher, he was able to inspire people to move together to provide care and shelter for the homeless youth, and to bring to them the knowledge of God’s love.

The Coindre Cross is given to alumni who demonstrated notable inspirational works of compassion in his/her lifetime up to today. Like Fr. Andre Coindre, these alumni advocated and contributed to the growth of compassionate movements such as social and economic programs leading to the alleviation of the human condition of specific marginalized sectors of society, especially among the young who are in need of guidance and hope.

Father Coindre’s enduring symbol is  Christ’s cross, a fitting reminder that God’s love is at work wherever he went on a mission of mercy and compassion.

ORGANIZATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE

Brother Polycarp, born Jean-Hippolyte Gondre,  is the first Superior General of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Also known as the Second Founder, his 17 year leadership saw the congregation grow in number and strength. He was a model of teaching and a paragon on living out the charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.

The Polycarp Scroll is given to alumni who demonstrated notable track record of excellence in their chosen fields of endeavor. Like Brother Polycarp, these alumni built careers and organizations which contributed to the growth and well being of their industry and local society, wherever they may be. They are employers of people or highly regarded professionals in their specific fields of interest. These alumni are known to be positive prime movers in their field.

The Scroll symbolism connotes written text which is essential in the creation of lasting standards that can be passed on from generation to generation. Brother Polycarp essentially developed the Brothers of the Sacred Heart into a well-organized, structured congregation which still stands to this day.
